35,000 jobs in Kolkata by 2015 : Says Wipro, Infosys

Now it's time to rock in IT industry in next upcoming three years about to getting appropriate job. West Bengal is getting lucrative for the IT industry with every passing day. Two of the nations IT majors, Infosys and Wipro Technologies, have their expansion plans for the state in place. Infosys is already working on their maiden software campus in Kolkata and Wipro is looking for expansion. According to an ET report, the two IT companies will invest up to Rs 20 billion in their IT and BPO projects and will create 35,000 tech jobs over a period of three years. Infosys has plans to invest Rs 10 billion that will create 20,000 tech jobs, while Wipro will invest Rs 8 billion in its second campus and will offer around 15,000 tech jobs in the state.

Further the news is that, S Gopalakrishnan, co-chairman, Infosys recently said that they are planning to invest Rs 1 billion initially in its venture in West Bengal. It is worth mentioning here that the government has allotted both the companies 50 acres each in Rajarhat. The companies have already paid roughly Rs 15 million per acre. Wipro already has its facility in Kolkata's Salt Lake Electronic Complex which employs around 7,000 currently and Infosys has plans to make Kolkata its hub for IT and ITeS operations in the east. The Mamata Banerjee-led government in West Bengal has been trying to attract the IT industry not only to create job opportunities but to create an IT hub in the state.
