Facebook has announced that they are looking for
plenty of employees to be hired next year. Facebook has announced that it is
expanding its engineering team beyond its headquarters in Palo Alto, California
and will build a sizeable force on the US East coast, in New York.

Facebook chief operating
officer Sheryl Sandberg told reporters at an event also attended by New York
mayor Michael Bloomberg.
"The Facebook NYC
engineering office, the company's first outside the West Coast, will open in
early 2012 and will begin accepting applications immediately.
Facebook, which has
more than 800 million members and is expected to go public next year, currently
employs some 3,000 people Sandberg said Facebook had plans to dramatically expand
its overall workforce.
Facebook operating at such a large scale, and innovating as quickly as we do, we
need to recruit the most talented engineers in the world," Mike Schroepfer,
Facebook's vice president of Engineering, motivated the move.
Facebook currently has around 100 employees in its New York offices. Most of
them work in marketing and recruiting. Sandberg declined to say how exactly many
people Facebook planned to employ in New York. But she said the company will
probably need more office space.
