Twitter lover's - Airtel offers mobile subscribers free access to Twitter till 1st March 2012

Bharti Airtel has launched a special integration with Twitter today that will allow its customers in India to access the service from their mobile phones for free until March 1, 2012.

“Today's discerning Indian customer is increasingly relying on the mobile device for accessing everything from emails to music to social networks. Airtel and Twitter are not the only two companies that have noticed the potential of social media growth among India's young and increasingly mobile population.

Mr. N Rajaram, Chief Marketing Officer – Consumer Business, Bharti Airtel said ,in conjunction with this trend, we are pleased to introduce 90 days of free access to Twitter for mobile users in India — first on Airtel. With this, 170 million+ Airtel mobile customers will now potentially be able to enjoy Twitter's rich interface on their mobile web browsers or access updates posted by specific users through SMS notifications free of charge.

India's largest telecom carrier Bharti Airtel has launched a special integration with Twitter today that will allow its customers in India to access the service from their mobile phones for free until March 1, 2012, according to a report by MediaNama.

Furthermore, even without activating GPRS, Airtel mobile customers can sign up for Twitter or subscribe to SMS updates of specific users (via short code 53000) on their mobile phones for free during the offer period.
